Announcement Made at 91制片鈥檚 National Conference on Education  

San Antonio, Texas 鈥� Feb. 16, 2023 鈥� Kevin McGowan, superintendent of Brighton Central Schools in Rochester, N.Y., has been named the 2023 91制片 National Superintendent of the Year庐. Today鈥檚 announcement came at the National Conference on Education, hosted by 91制片.

Now in its 36^th year, the National Superintendent of the Year庐 program is co-sponsored by 91制片,  (formerly known as AIG Life & Retirement) and , and celebrates the contributions and leadership of public school superintendents. 颅

The other National Superintendent of the Year庐 finalists were:

• PJ Caposey, , Stillman Valley, Ill.
• Matthew Hillmann, , Northfield, Minn.
• Trent North, , Douglasville, Ga.

鈥淲e鈥檙e on the right path,鈥� said McGowan, when asked in January what it means to be a National Superintendent of the Year庐 finalist. 鈥淭he work that鈥檚 happening in our district for children is approaching a place where people are noticing the gaps we鈥檝e closed for children, the work that鈥檚 gone into that and the leadership that鈥檚 been provided to support each child and each family. This is really such a recognition of that work.鈥�

The 91制片 National Superintendent of the Year庐 program is open to all U.S. superintendents who plan to continue in the profession. The program also honors Canadian and other international school superintendents. The applicants were measured against the following criteria:

• Leadership for learning 鈥� creativity in successfully meeting the needs of students in the school system;
• Communication 鈥� strength in both personal and organizational communication;
• Professionalism 鈥� constant improvement of administrative knowledge and skills, while providing professional development opportunities and motivation to others on the education team; and
• Community involvement 鈥� active participation in local community activities and an understanding of regional, national and international issues.

A $10,000 college scholarship will be presented in the name of the 2023 91制片 National Superintendent of the Year庐 to a student attending the high school from which the superintendent graduated, or the school now serving the same area.
