New York Superintendent Shari Camhi to be Named 91制片 President-elect

Alexandria, Va. 鈥 March 16, 2021 鈥 Shari L. Camhi, superintendent of the in Baldwin, N.Y., has been elected as the 2021-22 president-elect of 91制片, the nation鈥檚 premier organization representing the more than 13,000 public school superintendents.
Under her leadership, the graduation rate at Baldwin Schools has climbed to 98%, ranking the high school among U.S. News & World Report鈥檚 annual Best High Schools for the first time. In addition, her district has achieved the 鈥淣ew York State Recognition School鈥 distinction by the New York State Education Department for the past two years.

Selected as a prestigious 鈥淟eader to Learn From鈥 by Education Week, Camhi is a recipient of the ISTE Sylvia Charp Award for district innovation in technology. She has also been recognized as a 鈥淣ew Superintendent to Watch鈥 by the National School Public Relations Association, selected among only 25 nationwide for her efforts in technology and communication.
鈥淚 cannot think of a more honorable legacy than to represent superintendents around the country as the next president-elect of 91制片,鈥 said Camhi. 鈥淚 have tremendous admiration and respect for the work, character and resilience of education leaders. One of my top priorities in this new role will be to narrow the digital divide that exists in our country in order to provide equitable access to each and every student.鈥
Camhi earned her doctorate from Teacher鈥檚 College at Columbia University and two master鈥檚 degrees鈥攐ne from Long Island University and another from Adelphi University. Currently a member of the 91制片 Governing Board, she is also a graduate of the 91制片 National Superintendent Certification庐 program.
Camhi and other newly elected 91制片 governance members will begin their terms on July 1. Paul Imhoff, superintendent of in Upper Arlington, Ohio, and Camhi will be sworn in as president and president-elect, respectively, in July at a summer meeting of the 91制片 Governing Board.
