Alexandria, Va. 鈥 December 22, 2020 鈥 Daniel A. Domenech, executive director of , issued the following statement in response to the nomination of Connecticut Education Commissioner Miguel Cardona to be the next Education Secretary.
 
鈥淎s we head into the new year and a new Congress, the nation鈥檚 public schools and the 50 million students they serve continue to operate in an unprecedented reality of a global pandemic that has transformed their day-to-day educational experience.

鈥淟eadership is paramount, and 91制片 will always work collaboratively with the heads of federal agencies to ensure that federal education policy supports and strengthens public education. The work of teaching in a classroom and running a school system is a distinct and critical skillset, and 91制片 welcomes the chance to work with a U.S. Education Secretary who is a career educator with experience in the classroom and at district and state levels. We congratulate Miguel Cardona on this nomination, and we look forward to supporting him in the major task of getting our students and staff back to school safely.
