Carol D. Birks Ed.D.
Dr. Carol D. Birks, Ed.D., is the Superintendent and Chief Executive Officer for the Allentown School District, where she has led since March 2023. A visionary leader in education, Dr. Birks is committed to fostering academic excellence, equity, and innovation to ensure that all students thrive.
With a distinguished career in educational leadership, Dr. Birks previously served as Superintendent of Chester Upland School District (PA) and New Haven Public Schools (CT). She began her career as a classroom teacher, later advancing into administrative leadership roles focused on driving student achievement and organizational transformation.
Dr. Birks holds a Doctorate and a Master鈥檚 Degree in Educational Leadership from Columbia University鈥檚 Teachers College, a Master鈥檚 Degree in Education from the University of Bridgeport, and a Bachelor鈥檚 Degree in Political Science from Hampton University.
